A range is a set of hands that are appropriate to play based on the player’s position, the number of available cards, and the overall strategy. Some ranges are more restrictive than others. Some players may use different hands in passive and aggressive situations, while others may cap their open-raising ranges from SB.
While Texas Hold’em is perhaps the most popular form of the game, other variants include Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Five Card Draw. During the betting intervals, players may be required to contribute a certain number of chips to the pot. When a player raises their bet, another player may “call” their bet. A player can also “raise” after the previous player has called his or her bet. If the betting interval ends without a draw, the player with the highest hand wins the pot.
The highest natural hand is a straight flush. A straight flush is a set of five cards of the same suit. Aces can be high or low. If the ace is high, it cannot wrap around a pair of K-A-C-1-2-3. An Ace-high straight-flush is called a Royal Flush.
