Until then, enjoy the game! But first, how does one play poker?

A hand in Poker consists of a set of card suits and two types of bets. The player to the dealer’s left makes the first bet and the player to his left bets the second blind, which is normally double the first blind. Each player must place their chips in the pot equal to the last raise made by the player before him. This player is called an “active player”.

The game of poker was first played in the United States during the nineteenth century, and eventually spread throughout Europe. Several publications focused on the game of poker and pointed to New Orleans. The game’s influence was attributed to the 17th century Persian game, as-Nas. However, recent scholarship has disproved this hypothesis and suggests that the game has European origins. The name “poker” was likely taken from Frenchpoque and Germanpochen, although the exact source of the game is not known.

The object of poker is to obtain the highest-ranking hand by betting until all other players have been eliminated. If a player’s hand is the best, he wins the pot and the money bet during the hand. If, however, a player does not have the highest ranking hand, the pot is shared among all other players. A game of poker is called a draw if more than one player remains in contention. A hand’s ranking determines whether a player is the “first” bettor.
